Description
This course offers delegates a theoretical understanding of the terminology frequently used in test manuals and when assessing for dyslexia. It provides practical examples and gives the delegate an opportunity to practise working out confidence intervals based on a test's SEM.
In addition, it explains about significance and prevalence when using the WRIT and provides opportunities to consider whether verbal and visual scores should be combined. It has been updated in 2023 to discuss the new views on combining scores and the language used around the decision to not combine.

- Know when it is not appropriate to combine WRIT verbal and visual scores
- Be able to calculate the significance of 0.01 and 0.05 between composite scores and subtest scores in the WRIT.
- Know how to calculate confidence bands for standard and scaled scores
Course prerequisites
Delegates should be qualified assessors with a Level 7 Qualification in SpLD or trainees currently undertaking Level 7 SpLD study.
